Amazon Fires Driver After They Allegedly Stole a Boy’s Birthday PS5

Amazon terminated a driver after they reportedly robbed a 16-year-old boy’s PS5 for his birthday. The PS5 is the most high-demand commodity in the world right now not just making it nearly difficult to purchase, but making it ideal for for thief’s out there.

Since the PS5 pre-orders started, scalpers have offered PS5 to desperate PlayStation fans for insane sums of money. That said, obviously not only do PlayStation fans need to deal with scalpers, bots, and package hunters, but shockingly to many…even with Amazon drivers.

This week, an unidentified driver employed for Amazon was allegedly caught stealing a PS5 from CCTV, or more precisely caught stealing a 16-year-old boy’s birthday PS5 from the boy’s mother, Jenni Walker.

After allegedly capturing the act on CCTV, the mother called Amazon, which revealed that they were reviewing the incident until the device was refunded. And for her pains, Amazon has ultimately issued a $50 gift coupon to the Walker family.

The story doesn’t end there though. Following this, Walker’s daughter drove to the local Amazon depot with the CCTV footage, which was presented to the site’s boss. Speaking to the daughter, the boss confirmed the driver was indeed an employee and would be fired for the incident.

“We have very high standards for our delivery service providers and how they serve customers,” said Amazon said while speaking to Oxford Mail. “The delivery associate will no longer be delivering on behalf of Amazon.”

I don’t know about you…but $50 seems pretty low to me given what happened.
