Before addressing the tragic mass shooting that killed six people at a Nashville elementary school hours earlier, President Biden joked Monday that he only came to a White House event because he heard there would be ice cream.
The president then addressed the incident at Covenant School, which murdered three pupils and three staff members, calling it “sick” and “a family’s worst nightmare,” before insisting that Congress adopt an assault weapons prohibition.
This is what Biden said when coming up to the stand:
“My name is Joe Biden. I’m Dr. Jill Biden’s husband, And I eat Jeni’s ice cream — chocolate chip. I came down because I heard there was chocolate chip ice cream,
By the way, I have a whole refrigerator full upstairs, You think I’m kidding? I’m not.” Biden said.
