Britney Spears has been released from the conservatorship that has governed her life, career, and money for over 14 years. At the request of the pop star’s legal team, a Los Angeles judge canceled the court-ordered agreement on Friday, thereby ending her years-long struggle.
The hearing was the first since her father, Jamie Spears, was removed as a co-conservator. The ruling goes into effect immediately.
The decision comes after Spears issued a scathing statement in court about the conservatorship in June, calling it “abusive” and saying it left her feeling “bullied” and “alone.”
