If Netflix pulls his upcoming comedy show, controversial comic Dave Chappelle will take it on the road.
This month, Chappelle’s latest special, titled The Closer, launched to global viewers on the streaming site.
It would be an understatement to say that some of Chappelle’s LGBTQ+ jokes drew outrage, with some reviewers demanding for the special to be removed off Netflix entirely.
Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, has previously stated that the firm will support Dave Chappelle. This has sparked further controversy, with numerous Netflix workers participating in a workplace walkout, but Netflix does not appear to be changing its mind about keeping The Closer on the air.
If the company decides to yank the program for whatever reason, Chappelle’s backup plan is to take it on tour and continue showing it for audiences.
