Harrison Ford Injured Himself Rehearsing ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Fight Scene

According to Deadline.com, Harrison Ford injured himself while practicing a fight scene for Indiana Jones 5. The extent of his injury is unknown at this time, although it concerns his shoulder. While the right course of therapy is determined, director James Mangold will continue to shoot around him. In the next weeks, the filming schedule will be adjusted as needed. The Lucasfilm action thriller will be released on July 29, 2022, according to Disney.

Production on Indiana Jones 5 began earlier this month in Pinewood Studios and various sites throughout the United Kingdom. Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Thomas Kretschmann co-star with Ford. Logan filmmaker James Mangold will take over the helm from Steven Spielberg, who will continue to serve as producer with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel. John Williams, who has worked on every tune in the franchise’s 40-year history, including the iconic theme, will also return as composer.

From Deadline.com:

Just got a statement from Disney: “In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder. Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks.”

Ford suffered a serious injury when his leg was broken by a hydraulic door in a freak accident on the set of the Millennium Falcon spaceship while reprising Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in June 2014 at London’s Pinewood Studios. Let’s hope this injury is by comparison a momentary setback for Ford, who at age 78 is in remarkable shape.
