Hollywood writers are turning off their computers and marching to the picket line.
Thousands of unionized scribes went on strike early Tuesday, claiming they are not being paid fairly in the streaming era, thus halting television production.
It comes after high-stakes talks between a top guild and a trade group representing Hollywood’s major studios failed to prevent the first walkout in more than 15 years.
The writers Guild of America’s board of directors, which comprises West Coast and East Coast sections, voted unanimously to call for a walkout, claiming that authors are facing a “existential crisis.”
