Bad News Regarding One of HBO’s Hottest Shows: Lovecraft Country

HBO will not be returning one of its most successful programs on HBO Max. According to a recent Deadline story, Lovecraft Country Season 2 will not be produced by the network. Misha Green’s program was well-liked on social media and elsewhere, while Jurnee Smollett and Jonathan Majors’ careers skyrocketed. T

The combination of fantasy themes and horror was a great package for the streaming platform in its early days. On the day it broadcast, the Season 1 finale had 1.5 million viewers. That qualifies as the most-watched new episode of an HBO Max original. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as if everyone got in early and rode the wave. Fans noticed their pals’ excitement and fired up the streaming service to check what was going on from the debut.

However, with that cliffhanger conclusion ringing in the background, viewers will always wonder what happened to Atticus and Letty.

“We will not be moving forward with a second season of Lovecraft Country,” HBO told Deadline in a statement. “We are grateful for the dedication and artistry of the gifted cast and crew, and to Misha Green, who crafted this groundbreaking series. And to the fans, thank you for joining us on this journey.

Michael K. Williams, who also stars in the show talked to Collider about the prospect of a Season 2. There was some real hope for more stories inside that world.
