With the release of the new Scooby-Doo movie, my lady Velma is finally getting some love and attention, with her own TV show.
The film premiered on October 4th, and it verified something I never considered as a child. Velma’s sexual orientation.
With this film, it is officially canon that Velma is a lesbian, which rule 34 artists are already incorporating into their work.
Velma certainly looks different in this trailer. New hairstyle? Maybe it’s because she’s supposed to be younger in this series, but she seems strange. Or maybe it is, now that Velma is a person of color. I’m sure that won’t be an issue for die-hard fans, right? Wrong. It has already happened.

Well, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. People love Velma! So I don’t know if they are too happy with her change of design. Sadly, they gave her the Lola Bunny treatment too. Sad Life.I think the show runners just wanted to make her look closer to her voice actor, Mindy Kaling. Let’s see if they do the same with Daphne (Constance Wu), Shaggy (Sam Richardson) and Fred (Glenn Howerton). The cast is pretty stacked for this one, but sadly we will be missing Scooby. That’s the part I’m probably most furious about!
