Jae’lynn Chaney, a Vancouver, Washington-based content artist, claimed she initiated the Change.org petition after encountering ‘discrimination and discomfort’ when traveling with her girlfriend.
Chaney reported a journey from Pasco to Denver on which her fiancé was’subjected to hostile words, disapproving stares, and even refused to seat next to them’, noting that the pair are both plus-size travelers.
On another trip, she had ‘pain and bruises’ due to having to sit in a seat with fixed armrests.
Chaney is urging the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the US Department of Transportation to take action, arguing that “air travel should be comfortable and accessible for everyone.”
