Portland police vehicle severely damaged by fire; arson investigation underway

An autonomous but marked police car in Portland was set on fire and heavily burned on Saturday night, causing the authorities to open an arson probe.

The North Precinct officers replied at about 8:20 p.m. To record a car on fire in a city fleet parking lot in the 800 block of North Graham Lane. The 2018 Portland Police Ford Interceptor Utility vehicle, which had been towed to the lot for maintenance after a minor collision, was discovered to have been set on fire, according to a news release.

Portland Fire and Rescue replied, extinguishing the flames.
