In the first trailer for Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Obi-Wan and Ewan McGregor return to Tatooine. The next Star Wars spinoff from The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett studio Lucasfilm, which will premiere on Disney+ on May 25th, promises the “rematch of the century” with McGregor’s prequel trilogy co-star Hayden Christensen.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is set ten years after the events of 2005’s Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, in which Kenobi (McGregor) experienced his greatest defeat: the collapse and corruption of his closest friend and Jedi trainee, Anakin Skywalker (Christensen), who became the wicked Sith Lord Darth Vader. The first footage may be seen below.
Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian) directs all six episodes of Joby Harold’s limited series (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts). The narrative begins on Tatooine, a decade after the Jedi master went into hiding to watch over a young Luke Skywalker, before heading off-planet on a “rollicking journey,” McGregor said in a behind-the-scenes peek.
