The Denzel Washington Interview That Left Katie Couric Shaken & Uncomfortable

During the past couple of weeks actor Denzel Washington’s reputation has been put on notice by another person’s less-than-pleasant interaction with the actor. Journalist Katie Couric is the latest individual to reveal a prior unpleasant encounter with Washington, causing fury among Denzel’s followers.

Couric’s rediscovered comments date back to last year, when she appeared as a guest on the podcast “Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino.”

During a career retrospective, the veteran on-air personality recalled the “Training Day” actor leaving her “shaken” and “uncomfortable” following a 2004 interview. Washington and co-star Meryl Streep were promoting their political thriller picture “The Manchurian Candidate” at the time.

The veteran US news anchor said that Washington reacted in a manner that was “weirdly uncalled for”, after she asked about celebrities talking openly about politics in 2004.

“I don’t think I said anything wrong, I don’t know what happened,” Couric told the Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino podcast. “I love him. I admire him so much, he’s one of my favourite actors, but I remember walking out feeling kind of shaken that he had gone after me in a way that was completely weirdly uncalled for.”

Of course as you can imagine, once this was revealed by Couric, Denzel fans immediately were offended on Twitter:
