Kelly Marcel, the writer of Venom, is swinging from the writers’ room to the director’s chair for Venom 3. Marcel will direct the threequel for Sony and Marvel Studios, according to Deadline.
She will also co-produce the film with Tom Hardy, who will reprise his role. Marcel is also working on the screenplay, which is based on a story she and Hardy devised. The production team includes Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker.
Plot details are unknown, as is whether any characters from the first two Venom films will return for the sequel. Marcel is the third director in Sony’s Venom franchise, following Ruben Fleischer (Venom) and Andy Serkis (Venom: Let There Be Carnage).
According to reports, Marcel has a great working relationship with Hardy, and the two have a lot of great ideas for Venom 3. Both have been driving forces in bringing Venom’s adventures to the big screen, not to mention securing massive sums of money for Sony and Marvel.
