Warner Bros. Discovery Exec Reportedly Meeting With Harry Potter Creator Soon to Develop New Content

Following the multimedia company’s merger with Discovery earlier this year, Warner Bros.’ future is at an interesting crossroads. While Warner Bros. Discovery has only been in operation for a few months, much has been written about the company’s actions, notably those of its CEO and President David Zaslav.

A recent Wall Street Journal piece sheds insight on Zaslav’s new plan for WBD’s next films, and it reveals an intriguing nugget about the future of the Harry Potter property.

According to the article, Zaslav is trying to create “new” Potter material for HBO Max and wants to meet with series author J.K. Rowling in the coming weeks to discuss the matter.

This tidbit of information is likely to pique the interest of fans, particularly those who have been hoping to see the series grow or explore new stories.

The Wizarding World installments released after the Potter films concluded have largely consisted of three Fantastic Beasts films, with the most recent release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore opening to a franchise low of $43 million at the domestic box office, and the final two films of the series reportedly not yet set in stone.

Now that those younger audiences who were the target of the prequel films are adults, Jar Jar is revered in a different way, even leading some to speculate about whether the Gungan could appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Unfortunately, Best broke the news himself that he wasn’t involved in the series last year.
