Jason Momoa Says He Was Starving and in Debt After His ‘Game of Thrones’ Character Was Killed Off

Jason Momoa said he couldn’t find work after starring in HBO’s “Game of Thrones”.

This comes as a shock to most Game of Thrones and Jason Momoa fans. Because for such fans, Jason Momoa is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood right now.

The actor was Dothraki Warlord Khal Drogo, who married Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen but was killed at the end of the first season of GOTs first season, which premiered in 2011.

Drogo ‘s demise happened before “Game of Thrones” became a major smash hit, so Momoa didn’t experience the complete success of starring in one of the biggest tv shows ever.

Momoa is married to Lisa Bonet, who starred in ‘The Cosby Show.’ They also made their marriage legal in 2017 but shared a wedding in 2007, before ‘Thrones.’ They have two children together: a daughter born in 2007 and a son born in 2008.

In an interview with InStyle published Tuesday, Momoa said: “I mean, we were starving after ‘Game of Thrones.’ I couldn’t get work.”

The only credit Momoa managed to get during the year after season one of “Thrones” was in the action movie “Bullet to the Head.” He followed that up with three indie movies in 2014 and a couple of TV-show appearances.

“It’s very challenging when you have babies and you’re completely in debt,” Momoa told InStyle.

But since “Thrones” has become a mega-hit, so too has Momoa. He starred as Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, in one of the DC Extended Universe’s biggest and best-reviewed superhero movies, and he has starred in two TV shows, Netflix’s “Frontier” and Apple TV’s “See.”
