Batman Debut Comic From 1939 Sells for $850k

Batman was first unveiled in a comic book back in 1939, even while most kids back then purchased it for 10 cents. Recently a collector spent $849,999.90 to snag this amazing comic.

Detective Comics No. 27 is a retro comic with the first introduction of the Caped Crusader, Batman and there are only less than 70 copies available in the country… According to the ComicConnect online auction house.

One of those copies has sold for a huge $850k, making it the second-highest selling price ever for that specific issue… And one of the highest comic book revenues of all time.

Vincent Zurzolo — co-owner of ComicConnect, which managed the sale — says the comic probably would have gone for even more if it was in better condition, but it’s only a 6 out of 10 on the CGC grading scale.

By contrast, another copy of No. 27 that was graded an 8 sold for a staggering $1,075,500 in 2010 … setting the record for the Batman comic.
