Squid Game: North Korean Student Reportedly Handed Death Sentence for Smuggling the Show

According to reports, a man was condemned to death in North Korea for smuggled copies of Netflix’s smash series “Squid Game” into the nation. Authorities were led to the guy when high school kids were found viewing the series, according to Radio Free Asia (via Variety).

According to the investigation, “Squid Game” was smuggled into the nation from China using a USB flash drive. “Squid Game” is not available in China, yet it is popular on pirate websites. The smuggler faces execution by firing squad, while the kids who brought “Squid Game” into school face prison sentences.

Radio Free Asia reports: “A student who bought a drive received a life sentence, while six others who watched the show have been sentenced to five years hard labor, and teachers and school administrators have been fired and face banishment to work in remote mines.”
