This is something I’m still shocked by. As horrible as the Velma show was and all the backlash that creator Mindy Kaling received I would have thought the last person to receive an award from the President of the United States would have been her. Well, guess what?
President Joe Biden presented the National Medal of Arts to some of America’s most famous people in the East Room of the White House on Tuesday, including the executive producer of the contentious show “Velma.”
Mindy Kaling plays Velma, the main character in the contentious “Scooby-Doo” spinoff, which she also executive produces. Many have criticized the show for its excessive nudity, gore, and violence, as well as woke themes and the sexualization of minors. Velma identifies as a lesbian.
Since its debut, the HBO Max show has received some of the worst backlash ever for a tv show, earning one of the worst TV ratings in IMDB history, as well as the worst animated show rating ever.
