The universe of Matt Reeves’ The Batman is rapidly growing. Separate from the DC Universe’s other DC characters, Reeves’ universe is dark and primarily centered on Gotham City.
The first project in this new The Batman-verse is an HBO Max series centered on Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, also known as the Penguin.
According to early indications, the narrative of the series appears to center on Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot as he climbs through the ranks of Gotham’s underworld and becomes a power figure. It will take place in the aftermath of Gotham City’s flooding, as shown in the closing act of The Batman.
