Chapek recently accepted a contract extension that would keep him in his post until at least 2025, despite recent controversy caused by his actions as Disney’s CEO.
From his handling of Scarlett Johansson’s post-Black Widow lawsuit to the surprise termination of previous business chairman Peter Rice, the CEO has appeared to be on the hot seat with fans, critics, and internal personnel for some time.
Those views toward him appear to have reached a boiling point, as a video obtained from D23 shows Chapek experiencing the fury of fans in his most recent public appearance.
As soon as Chapek began his speech during the ceremony, boos could be heard coming from the crowd in disapproval.
