A Leap to the Rescue – Dog Saves Woman From Oncoming Bus

Destiny was kind to the two that day because both Audrey and Figo survived the potentially deadly event. Figo came away with bone-deep cuts on his leg, and Audrey was admitted to the hospital. Although Stone was found to have bodily cuts, three broken ribs and a broken right ankle, her fate could have been much worse if it wasn’t for Figo.

Paul Schwartz, the manager at Xtra Mart gas station, witnessed the whole thing. Schwartz told reporters, “With 15 EMTs and all the people around Audrey, Figo never left her side.” Dragging his badly injured leg behind him, Figo dragged himself to her side and comforted her screams following the collision. Reassuring her that Figo was alive and well, the EMTs were then able to attend to Audrey’s injuries.  The remaining EMTs wrapped Figo’s leg and laid him on a blanket, but that dog only wanted to be at his owner’s side.

Due to ambulance regulations, Figo wasn’t allowed to ride with Audrey on the way to the hospital. Looking lost and confused, Figo was loaded up into a fire truck by a volunteer to make his way to the local veterinarian. The helpful staff at the Middle branch Veterinary Clinic in Paterson, New York placed Figo in surgery. Chief of Police Del Gardo reported afterward that Figo was on his way to recovery, the brave hero soon to be reunited with his beloved owner.
