Jay Leno, the comedian and longstanding television personality, announced Monday that he was gravely burnt in a vehicle fire on Sunday, but that he is recovering well.
Variety said that Leno, 72, acknowledged the fire, stating, “I sustained pretty nasty burns from a gasoline fire.” I am ok. I’ll be back on my feet in a week or two.”
About Monday, TMZ was the first to report on Leno’s injuries, stating that he was being treated at a Grossman Burn Center after a car exploded near him in the Los Angeles garage where he keeps his autos.
According to TMZ, Leno was scorched on the left side of his face but suffered no harm to his eyes or hearing.
