Morbius embodies everything that is wrong with Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Morbius is the third film in the Venom trilogy, following the popular films Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
It stars Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius, a respected scientist who has suffered from a rare blood ailment since infancy. Morbius chooses to infect himself with a sort of transgenic vampirism in the hopes of healing himself and his closest buddy, giving him all of the superhuman qualities associated with traditional vampires without any of their limitations, save the need to suck blood.
Morbius went through a protracted development process, with ambitions for a film based on the Marvel Comics character dating back to Wesley Snipes’ Blade trilogy.
Despite being advertised as part of the SSU, Morbius took a long time to reach cinemas, thanks in part to reshoots that took place about a year after the original production wrapped. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic pushed back the release dates for both Morbius and the Venom sequel.
When it ultimately premiered on April 1, 2022, the film did worse at the box office than most Marvel films, including the previous two SSU chapters.
The great youtube channel: The cosmonaut Variety Hour posted a very accurate and informative video on why Morbius movie was such a bad movie and where it all went wrong.
